The only hand capitalism has in that is providing the tax dollars to fund ever expanding war machine.
That is, however, immaterial to the discussion at hand, except to say that capitalism in general, and the corporate way of life as it currently exists, is at odds with the best interests of the consumer at large. | Wow. We've gone from Genz to the American military machine. Amazing.

Regardless if Talk Bass is a small sampling of the bass community, Genz Benz is a brand that is loved by a lot of players.
I keep coming back to this thread because I actually care about Genz Benz. I keep coming back to TB because I can filter most of the nonsense. |

Bottom line is, Fender will make whatever decisions will serve its success best. Whether that will be in alignment with what the current Genz Benz fan base wants or not, only time will tell.
All I can say is, I would consider it foolish on Fender's part to not take the talent the GB (KMC) acquisition brings to the table seriously, and take advantage of it in some form or another... regardless of if that results in something with the GB brand on it or not.
We shall see.

That was years ago. |

How much longer until we blame the "demise" of Genz Benz on the Bilderberg group?!

Originally Posted by Febs It is possible that GB continued to be a separate company after it was acquired, depending on how the acquisition was structured. | Again, my comments are about Genz not being at NAMM this year. In previous years, just like all the other KMC brands ( ) they had their own little corner of the KMC booth.
That did not happen this year. Could it be that there is just a bit of rebranding and change of product line coming since they were (from reports) put directly under the parent company (Fender).? Absolutely.
A COMPANY not showing up at NAMM is not that unusual and means little (for example, MESA no longer believes the huge expenditure of time and money pays out for them in having a booth). However, a parent company not showing one (or more) of their brands in their booth is a little more ominous for those brands (or at least seems to signal a possible change for the brand, which might actually end up being a positive).
Put this in the context of the parent company (Fender) wanting to go public and having a hard time at it (per a recent NYTimes artical), and the possible consolidation of brands and renewed emphasis on core businesses and brands is a pretty common thing. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
