All tube amp 410 rig for under $1000?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I am saving for a new rig and I want to have about $1000 bucks to spend on both.

Requirements:
I want the amp to be all tubes
I would like the cab to be a 410
I dig a vintage vibe. Think Willie Weeks!

Gig duties are a Funky/Jazz sextet with a fender p and j.
Instruments: Trumpet, Baritone Sax, Drums, Keys, Guitar, Bass
So loud but not metal....

tho possibly try for a 'vintage' sounding cab- -maybe a sealed Ampeg SVT410E

I've a Traynor YBA200 It's a wonderful amp able to do vintage tones & strike up a modrn pose too :-)

Or you could try to find a Peavey Alphabass they are short bucks (usually around 300.00) and 160 watts And sound very good with the right tubes in them. And that would leave plenty for a cab

Why did ampeg give up on the V4hb and the blue diamond series they seemed to be cool.

Keep an eye out for an old tube Sunn amp too- they show up in good/recently serviced condition for around $350 on craigslist. The tone is great and seem really loud for their rated wattage. I think Willie Weeks was playing a Sunn amp on that live Donny Hathaway record too!
