But it will cost you the price of both of these amps, and quite a bit more.
But that is a small price to pay for the best bass amp on earth. The thing is INCREDIBLE.
Since you're in Europe, there's also the Tecamp line, and the Hevos from Holland. Have heard the Tecamp stuff, it is very good, and have heard nothing but great reports about the Hevos stuff, so I imagine it is quite good, as well.
But I KNOW the Tecamp isn't as good as the AER, and I doubt very much that the Hevos is.
The AER Basscube is about the size of an old Roland cube, larger than the Ibanez, but still barely bigger than the 12" speaker that's in it, retails for $4,800.00. I imagine stores will sell it slightly cheaper. And yes, it sounds that good. Unbelievably good.
And there's no fan that I know of. If there is, it's dead silent.
Cheers,
Cameron

and have to say, I look still further for an alternative.
My A/B-test gives the following results
Ibanez
sound : I guess much better can such a tiny 10" combo not sound. And I guess this is mostly due to the speaker, the tweeter (plus crossover) and the cabinet design.
the amp is quite ok. lots of power. a little noise, but bearable.
the EQ section is not too good. With just using the graphic EQ it works for me. The rest of the EQ is not useful for my taste.
So far so good!
But What I absolutely dislike or hate is the noise of the fan!!! ( I know, most of the TBers say, fan-noise is hardly audible. I assume, Ibanez puts stronger fans in now, cause of overheat problems they had.)
SO I got the Mini CMD 121P for checking:
fan kicks in right from the start, noise is audible but bearable.
soundwise of course more lows, more ooomph, which is nice! (although the Ibanez is capable of a bass power which is hardly believable for the tiny 10" cab)
BUT in the upper register (high mids / low treble) this combo's cabinet sucks for my taste. It has some high treble but below there is really s.th missing. A/B-ing with the Ibanez shows this clearly.
Also the EQ section of the Mark lacks something IMO. The Low mid is too low for me (or the high mid too high).
And: the Mark has no Aux In or headphone out as the Ibanez.
So guys, the big question that remains is :
What can you recommend after reading all this??
Who offers a similar size / weight / wattage combo that could suit my needs and preferences ?? |
