am i doing something wrong?

i got a laney dp 150, the volume goes up if u turn the gain or the eq balance,but nothing seems to happen if i turn the actual volume knob up.......

Have you read the manual completely? That's the thing to do before you ask. It's pretty easy to misunderstand the interactions of controls on an amp - sometimes that makes it easy to confuse yourself (me, too).
