Am i normal???

Sign in to disble this ad
I just learned that the cabinet i ordered, (which i was sure it was made in the USA) is made in China.

I feel weird, not to say sad, the only thing that comes to my mind is that i should have bought a Made in the USA cab.

The cabs sound great but for the same price or 50$ more i can get one made in the usa..

Nah, you're American. Doesn't hurt to be patriotic.

My name is Joe, though, and I am Canadian.

Get used to the future. Lots of US made gear are really made in China..and "assembled" in the US anyway. Doesnt matter where its made as long as its good.

You play bass, so you're clearly not "normal."

If you thought your cab was made in the U.S.A., it was probably manufactured in China, but designed, marketed and distributed by a U.S. company. So most of the profits and part of the labor costs would stay here.

I try and buy American made when possible.
But sometimes things are made in the USA but assembled in other countries.
If it helps,I feel weird for you

I'm a bit perplex about what you're feeling. Is it because you think cabs made in China are inferior to the ones made in the US? Or do you feel a sense of customer duty towards our southern neighbours?

My opinion is that if it works as promised (or better), it doesn't matter where it was made as long as the employees have reasonable conditions (normal hours and acceptable salaries), which I guess isn't always the case with Chinese made projects. Come to think of it, I guess that's a pretty understandable point to want to avoid Chinese made cabs.

ps.

GO HABS GO!

if we're talking about ampeg cabs, i would much rather have a new 810e made in china over the ones made in america from 2000 till loud moved to china. however, i might give up a few extra bucks for the heritage 810e, which is made entirely in the usa using eminence usa speakers.

Good quality is good quality regardless of where it's made. If you have some sort of moral objection to the Chinese government or something this is the wrong forum for it. If you're worried about quality, trust in the vendor's return policy, manufacturer's warranty, and use your ears and eyes to judge the quality.

I work in the bike industry where 95% of the stuff is made in asia. I have visited many factory some of them knew what they were doing some others didn't.

I assume it's the same about the musical industry!

I always try to encourage canadian or american company who build there own stuff.

I knew that some companies had there cheap stuff done in china but i was sure the high-end stuff was made here.

If we're talking a $50 difference between Made in USA vs stuff manufactured abroad, I'd probably go with USA line to help our economy. But if it's a couple hundred bucks difference, and the quality is there, all bets are off.
I have an Egnater Rebel 20 guitar amp head that was made in China, and I think it's phenomenal. But I just bought a Musicman Stingray 5 that was made here in California, and I shelled out the bucks because it was worth it to me. So glad I did, too.

A not insignificant reason I by Mesa Boogie is that they're made in the US... (actually, made 15 min. from where I live). Of course, another reason is that they make eff'n great products.

The nice Chinese couple who run the No. 1 Restaurant around the corner have an 8 year old daughter who was born right here in Virginia Beach. Technically, she's Chinese but assembled in the USA. She also gets real pissy if you ask for extra packets of duck sauce.

I wouldn't get too worried about the country of origin. There's some stellar high-end electronic stuff coming out of the far east.

I ordered a GK neo 115 cab. 659$ cdn

but i could have ordered

a bergantino HT112er for 749$
or
a mesa PH210 for 699$

not a lot more for a US made product.

The berg is going as low and deep as the gk 115
The mesa is even tighter in the low then the GK
I choose the GK because it's light, i tought that it would work better as a standalone cab and i tought it was made in USA.
