So, it's coming down to the fact that I don't see any use for my SVT-II in the near future. Heck, even the distant future. I don't plan to tour so I don't see a need for it. It's big, hard to carry, and much more powerful than my current needs warrant. I could use cash more than this amp or it's accompanying overkill of a Genz Benz 610 as the girl and I are moving in around August and I'm without work currently.
Will I miss it? Hell yes. Will I get another one if I sell it? Probably.
Talk me out of it or into it.

If you're actually serious, shoot me a PM. I don't want to break any rules 'round here. |

Unless you have someone else moving it for you, go lighter. With the VT bass, Ampeg Micro VR stack, and other technology out there there is no reason not too.
I settled on an Eden Nemesis 115 320 watt combo and extension cab. Weighing about 40 lbs each and can get almost any tone I got with the other gear above. The Edge knob on the Nemesis gear is a nice addition.
If I decided to get another setup it would be the double stacked Ampeg Micro VR or a Mesa Walkabout head with an Avatar 212 at 4 ohm.

My Bag End 410 is as big as I want to get. It'll fit in my car's trunk (barely) and gets loud enough to injure small stature people. I think I'm willing to keep using heavy gear. I just can't handle the inability to transport it. |

I have a VT bass and think that the GK preamp is more to my liking, but that is probably because it's the only brand that I have consistantly owned over the past 11 years and I'm just used to how they sound. If you didn't need cash, I would probably keep it. Something drew you to it the first time, and you will probably want it again. Things change and you are still young enough to haul it around...but I'm in Columbus so you woundn't have to ship if you sold it to me
Good luck!

Wes | Well, if you ever want to try one out, let me know. I'm plenty willing to let people doodle on my gear so that they can try something new out. Send me a PM if you want to! |

This thing kicks the butt off of any Ampeg cabinet I've ever played through, even my old 810. It's deeper, louder, and sounds a whole lot more clear. Argh, I'll miss it too... Then again, the Bag End is pretty close so I'll be okay. |

Within the last week I've gotten an SVT, and while I love the tone I absolutely hate the weight. Just moving it from one room to another is a PITA! I don't know if I'll sell it or not just yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if I go back to a Markbass head within a year. |

| | | | I've been on a 4x10 and a 2x10 (not at the same time) for years now and I've never missed the weight or anything else for that matter. I've got a 1st Gen Ashdown ABM500 that isn't light but is no SVT for sure.
I've loaded into venues in one trip!

I'm now scrambling to get a Mesa 400+ again...

I'd wait 'til you have something you like as much or better.
See how long that takes.
If you need money... try to find more work. Selling gear to pay bills is a losing proposition, because you wind up not having gear, and still needing to find more work in two months.
And don't sell anything you plan to "just buy again" in the future. It's a PITA. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
