Amp for an Acoustic Bass

Hi!

Brand new here

Ok I am actually an acoustic guitarist

Need some advice!

Recently bought an acoustic bass a Takamine PB15 which I think is an earlier Japanese import of Takamine TB250SC.

My question is regarding Bass Amps.
The Bass amp we have is a Hartke A100.

Are there acoustic bass amps like there are acoustic guitar amps?
And if so do you have any recommendations?

Not for acoustic bass guitars. SWR and a few others make amps for upright basses. A regular bass amp should do just fine. I would recommend putting some nylon tapewound strings on the bass though,to help tame the otherwise clacky overly bright nature of the peizo.

It does sound good through that Hartke Amp (which I just got on Ebay for £88.50!!)

And I will tell the bass player about the strings.

Acoustic makes an amp for acoustic basses.

Just about anything will work if you use an external preamp. I use either the Radial Bassbone, Sans Amp ParaDriver or Fishman Pro Platinum EQ depending on the gig. They all have pros / con's. The amp itself is a GK - or I just go straight to the board and get a monitor bleed.

The Fishman has the best feature set of the bunch for bass IMO.
