Amp advice about Markbass Mini CMD 121

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, first off I want to say this little beast is one of the best things I think I've ever plugged into. Set it flat and good god, sounds great. I love everything about it. I was just wondering is there anything to compare it to size-wise, power-wise, and price-wise. I'm basically looking for anything around the same size with the same sound for maybe a little bit less of a price? Is it possible? Or should I just look for a used one to satisfy my price needs and call it a done day?

Best regards,

Brooks

Pretty much every major amp manufacturer has something similar these days. Some cost more, some cost less...but yeah, it's a pretty competitive market these days. I used to have that amp, but nowadays I tote an Ampeg Micro VR with a 210 cab for a micro rig. But everyone's got something small and loud. Try as many as you can, and pick the one you like best.

buy a used one.

the used market is a buyers market! there are stupid deals on anything used these days. (except Allevo-Coppolo's)

I was actually looking at it, but everyone said the speakers were really low quality and they farted out really easily. I want nothing to do with that. When I buy music gear just as every musician, reliability is one of the main factors man!!

Jimmy, please don't think stupidly of me for asking this question, it's just been in the back of my mind. Ampeg colors the sound right? How noticeable is the color? I am in a Fusion/ Prog rock band and I really like clarity in my tone. I was looking into the SVT Micro since I really don't play big places yet. Just small bars / clubs so far. I have been lugging around a half stack with an Acoustic b200h and a Warwick 115 Pro, and now my car can't fit the depth of my monster Warwick behemoth = /. Can they get a very pronounced clean tone? I do a lot of quick arpeggiated (sorry for spelling) runs and I like having notes heard even to an individual basis.

Best regards,

Brooks
