Amp advice Please!

I am in the market for my first new amp. I'm not really a tone fanatic but I am looking for good versatility and longevity. What I'm unsure is if I want an all tube, a hybrid, solid state, etc I'm sure a statement like this is very relative but being so new I'm not sure where to begin. I intend to use it for small gigs and as a monitor at church. Budget-wise I'd like to keep it between $750-$1000 or less. Let the flame, I mean input begin! Thanks all for your $.02 in advance. :-)

G-K MB2-500 and a NEO 212 cab. Or the MB Fusion if you can swing it. Used there are so many choices and will make you enjoy the first rig mentioned even more? Now I can take the flames for you

+ 1

A 500w solid state head and that Neo 212 is a killer little rig. And you'll see in my sig that my money's where my mouth is
