Amp buzz - (just making sure)

So from time to time, I use my friend's Eden Nemesis 320W head with a Yorkville 2x10 cab.

Recently, he had just done a coffee-house type of gig. At said gig, he didn't bring his cab because he was told that there would be a backline cab for him. Turns out, he wasn't allowed to use it so the A/V guys hooked his head to a stage monitor which went straight to the PA.

Now, when I plug everything in (with the 2x10), there's a lot of hissing and buzzing and when I attempt to play my bass it sounds very distorted. In addition, when I try to turn off the head, it makes a terrifying pop sound. Am I right to assume that the head is broken? Is there any way to fix it?

(Noob question ^)

It sounds like the head has trouble. How to fix it? Take it to a tech.

I agree with Mike. I have this image of morons connecting the PA's foldback power amp to one of the monitor's two parallel jacks, and then connecting the bass amp to the monitor's other parallel jack, causing both output stages to assault each other. I could be wrong (in which case I apologize to the sound guys), but the way you describe it, that sounds like the most likely scenario.
