Question Amp/Cabinet configuration

Sign in to disble this ad
Good Afternoon from Madrid.
I have a Little Mark II amp (delivering 300W @ 8ohms & 500W @ 4ohms).
I have two cabinets as follows:
i) 1 with 2 x 10" speakers (4ohms resistance) &
ii) 1 with 1 x 15" speaker (8ohms resistance)
Sadly I have no idea of electronics, however, from reading several articles, I understand that connecting the cabinets in parallel (via the two speaker output ports) will reduce the overall impedence to 2,66 ohms which would damge the amp.
If I "daisy chain" (amp to cab 1 and then on to cab 2), however, I gather the combined impedence is 12 ohms. This way I will not benefit from 500W or 300W, but won't damage my amp either.
I should be really grateful if somebody could confirm if I am on the right track and/or if their is a better solution/configuration.
Many thanks in advance.

Wrong assumption.............

Daisy Chaining is parallel also

You cannot connect both cabs

On a related note, is it possible at all to connect cabs in series?

Yes, but you would have to build a special series cable to do so. Another solid reason why small 4 ohm cabs make NO sense.

You would need a special cable.

Also note that when running cabs in series, if one cab "goes down", they all do.
