Amp comparison

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey everyone, happy Friday! Was wondering if the ever so knowledgeable TB community could help me with something. I am thinking about buying a Orange Terror Bass 500 and replacing my current Peavey Tour 450 amp with it. I just love the tones the Orange puts out not to mention it's small form factor and portability. My cab is a Mesa Powerhouse 6x10. Any insight anyone have on moving from the Peavey to the Orange? I also heard the Orange has kind of a hot DI, what dose that mean and is it a big problem/be easily corrected?

I love my Tour 700 through my Mesa PH412, but that Orange is a completely different animal. The Peavey doesn't give any ability to get dirty, but the Orange is a dirt machine. Sounds like you need to figure out what kind of tone you're looking for before you make the swap.

I can appreciate and like a dirty tone and the distortion I can get from the TB500 which you are right I cannot seem to get with the Peavey. The Peavey is a great amp don't get me wrong, just looking for a switch. The TB500 can get a pretty nice clean sound too. Has somewhat limited, yet simple and good tone controls. I play mostly rock tones.

Anyone else have anything else to say about the Orange TB500 in general?
