amp decision advice!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi I may sound stupid but I just don't know that much about gear prices so i was looking for some advice. Is 900$ a good price for an Ampeg SVT Classic head (year 2003, made in the USA)? I'm most likely checking it out tommorrow. I think if i pick that up then i can get a hopefully used 4 by 10 ampeg cab. Thanks for the advice. The head appears to be in good shape judging by the pics. Anything imparticular I should look for while checking out this amp.

Where they're made is of no consequence. It will either work, or won't. Do be sure to connect a proper load, (speakers) to it, ALWAYS, before turning it on. It can handle either a 4 or 2 ohm load, with a selector on the back. Be sure to match the load. Also, consider the cost of having it thoroughly checked out by a competent amp technician as part of the price of buying it. Too many things can go wrong, not to do that. And, enjoy that tone monster.

Also, i wonder if this guy will have a problem with me bringing it to an amp tech before i buy it. anyone have experience?

Make sure it's hooked up to the cab before you turn it on, and make sure it's a 4ohm cab.
