Hi!
I just got a great deal on a used Eden 410XLT, so now I need help finding an amp to go with it.
It's at 8 ohms, so I'm gonna need something loud.
Weight is not an issue either, since my plan to get a lightweight rig is already ruined by this cab purchase anyway
Soundwise, I'm open for ideas.. The reason I sold my last rig (SVT450 + 410hlf), was beacuse it sounded like playing though a PA, boomy and clanky, no definition what so ever.
I want something to go with the cab as far as definition and punch goes, but I need something a bit versatile, as I need a wide variety of sound, fingerstyle to overdriven pickstyle.
Something under 1000$.

I had the Eden 410XLT 4 ohm paired with the 800RB and It toasted the horn. I'm guessing it was because I ran it too hard to keep up with a loud drummer and ended up clipping enought to burn out the tweeter. Because your cab is 8 ohm, you'll only see 200 Watts out of the 800RB. There are much better options for the sound your looking for like perhaps a used SWR? Used SWR prices are awesome these days! The more power the better.
I sold the RB800 after replacing my tweeter in the 410XLT and bought a WT400 Plus. I used that combo extensively for years without any problems. I was able to get the full 400 watts out of the WT400 because my cab was 4 ohm though... I predict you'll want something that can put out at least 300 watts at 8 Ohms, more would be better. |

I found a SWR SM500 for 1/3 of usual price, but I've read a lot of bad reviews, saying it has no low end etc. I have also looked at a lot of the Genz Benz stuff, like the Streamliner and the Shuttles. They have 110/230V switches, and they're lightweight, so I can easily get one from ebay at half the price.
I also found a good deal on a Traynor YBA300.
So obviously I have very little clue what I want, since all these heads are quite different from each other :P |

Short of that, all you can do is guess, or take random suggestions from strangers on the internet. If you have to "guess" go with an Eden head, since they should be fairly well suited to each other, (voicing).

I found there was a serious 40Hz hump out of the 410XLT that I personally loved along with plenty of low mids. The upper mids on the other hand are cut which may make a SWR head sound too mid scooped unless there is a Aural Enhancer defeat switch...
Just thinking out loud. |

EBS is perfect for me, but way out of my price range.
So I'm left guessing :P |

I don't recall what eras or specific WT-800 models are the ones to get, but my WT-400 (new in late '97) has been a gem since I got it and I've not seriously considered another amp since then. The 800 is the same pre-amp with a stereo 400 watts/side power amp. Some versions of the WT-800 can bridge to 4Ω and some can only bridge to 8Ω.
I also had great success with a WT-600 I had for a while which is the same pre with a stereo 300 WRMS @ 4Ω per side power amp. I used that because at one time I had two 4Ω Eden cabinets. But if you have only a single 8Ω cabinet you can bridge the 600 to get 600 WRMS @ 8Ω which should be enough headroom for anything.
John

John | This would be ideal for your situation. Used Eden heads can often be found at a bargin as well. I still love the sound of my WT400 and XLT combo. I'll never get rid of it. |

What's really awesome is that this rig will cost me a total of 1400$, while the ampeg rig was 2500$ new. And that's why I buy used, and order from UK/US

So I'm left guessing :P | Then I'd go with an Eden head for the same reason Ricken said - just make sure you can return it if you don't like it. |

Do some research in old threads
I did love my old WT800, but couldn't be happier when I switched to Markbass amps..SA450

Don't they make a powered Navigator now? That'd be sweet.
Outside the brand, the Streamliner 900 might work.

Sold it because of the weight and because I wanted a 2x210 setup for more flexibility. Usually gig with full PA and a 210 is enough as stage monitor.
Ran the cab with a Genz Benz shuttle 6.0 and a VT-pedal and really liked the tones I got, especially the sort of agressive low mids that cut through any mix. Good cab if you have guitar players with 100w stacks! Sounds best at a little distance, even more so than most other cabs I've played, so I had it across the room from me at our rehearsal space.
I wish I could have kept it. Good luck!
