I'm looking for a solid bag to carry my amp head (Markbass LMII) my effects pedals, cables, cords, power strips, and other miscellaneous things. I'm currently using a pretty tough O'GIO duffle bag, but it's flimsy and I'd like something with more protection / integrity and defined pockets.
Open to ALL suggestions (please be reasonable, I'm not going to use 60-ply plastic shopping bags )
Best regards,
Brooks
P.S. I hope this is in the right place, couldn't think of a better subforum to put it in!

I wouldn't be opposed to some type of insane gig bag to carry amps cables and bass or whatnot. I don't think that I'd get another duffel though, I'm trying to get away from it because it's flimsy and even though it's ballistic nylon it's starting to fray from so much use.
Best regards,
Brooks

There are some tool bags that traveling repair techs use. Some of these have customizable interiors, so you could leave room for something as large as an amp, and still have compartmental storage for cables and such. Also, I've seen a few soft-sided coolers that might work. Can't recommend anything specific. I've got an all-leather duffel that I use for a gig bag. |

The interior is maybe 10x18" or so, and it's got dividers to make different compartments. I won one at a Moog Guitar clinic a year or so ago. I use it for a variety of cables and a few other miscellaneous things (but not for gigging or lots of travelling at the moment, just as a place to complile all that stuff).
But if you have more than about 3 pedals, you should really just get a pedal board. I have a Furman pedal board that I really like (mostly use it for guitar although sometimes I use it for bass too). Kind of big and heavy though, because it's got it's own power and is pretty big. Then I use a regular old milk crate for cables and other accessories. I cut up some cardboard to put in the bottom so smaller items don't fall out. I coil my cables, wrap them with velcro cable ties, and put them around the "outside" of the crate, and put stuff like my tuner, footswitches, drum key, pen, etc... in the middle. Then on top I usually have a power strip, notepad, folding guitar stand, strap, etc... |

The list:
Fender Jazz
Markbass 102p + 12 gauge neutrik speaker cable (6 or 8 feet long)
Markbass LMII + Power Cable
Markbass Compressore + 12v Adapter
WMD Super Fatman + 9v Adapter
Mogami Premium Gold 25 foot bass Cable
Furman Power strip
Usually all of the electronic stuff: pedals, cords, cables, power, amp head, are in the duffel bag. Bass is in the hardcase it came with when I bought it. Standard vintage G&G case ( trying to get a lighter gig bag ), and the cab just has a light cover to it that adds unnoticeable weight.
Best regards,
Brooks
P.S. I think the Moog gig bag wouldn't be much of an upgrade integrally and protection-wise compared to my duffel bag.
