Amp Endorsment anyone?

Sign in to disble this ad
I was curious to see how many people have an amp endorsment from a company, and looking for any advice I could get when submiting my information to one.

About me, I play in a touring band, we play about 200 shows a year, have a full length CD out, just signed to a label, and we play events with usually at least 100+ people. Often times many more.

I was curious to see if I might have a chance being able to endorse with a company, or if i shouldn't even waste my time.

Any input would be appreciated!

I'm curious...Do you use a specific manufacturer's amp and are a big fan of the way it's integral to your sound? Or are you just looking for endorsements from anyone to get free/discounted gear?

I'm just wondering.

I currently play with an Eden head, I like it, But i'm not entirely sold on it. I'm not sure why. I think in the studio it's good, but lacks a few things live. My ideal brand would be ampeg, (which i'm very doubtful of happening, i'm sure they get tons of requests.) mark bass would be my next choice. not even looking for free (discounted would be nice) but would like to have my name on the site, and some support from them.

you have to have a promo kit for you and your band, an album, a web presence they can check out, a current schedule that details your next year's gigs, etc. also, tv presence is very helpful as well as quality youtube vids that feature you using their stuff that gets a lot of hits, and if you can get yourself on a semi-major tour, that'll also help. basically, they want to know that you can sell their gear because you use it.

unless your band is super famous, you won't get free stuff. but you will get pretty good discounts. however, it ain't easy for those starting out. and some of the costs involved with chasing endorsements in putting together promo packs is (edit: meant to type "am") fairly sizable. your stuff has to look and feel pro to get taken seriously, and that's not cheap. honestly, i don't know if i'd bother with it for as much as it costs to send several promo packs out.

At 200 shows a year you should have no problem getting "artist pricing" with any company, which basically means a discount. It can be anything from dealer cost to 60% of msrp, or below dealer cost. Depends on the company. I've gotten artist pricing with a single email, and I've also had to go meet the director of artist relations in person. JimmyM's post pretty much tells you what you need to do.
