Amp head (Kustom) and cabinet compatibility

Hi there, long time lurker first time poster.

I own a gold Kustom 200 head (recently serviced, with ground plug) and 215 cabinet. The cabinet is not very portable and is getting a little ratty from being transported place to place, so I'm looking for a replacement. As far as I know, the specs are 200 watts at 8 ohms, and 100 watts at 4 ohms (please correct me if I'm wrong).

I've done some research into products from TC electronics, but unfortunately there are no local dealers in Victoria BC so I am unable to test one out for myself. Does anybody know if I be able to use the RS410 or RS212 in conjunction with the Kustom head without starting a fire? Maybe there are some other Kustom owners who have experiences with combining different cabinets with this head.

I'm playing with a metal band (think Alice in Chains, or Kyuss) and occasionally with a punky surfy pop band. I've always dug the fat clean tone, but for punk rock the Kustom 215 cab lacked a little mid and high range. Maybe I should purchase a different bass head? I'm a hobbyist and I spend a lot of my time doing fieldwork, so I wouldn't play a venue bigger than a large bar with this setup.

Thanks
Tim

I can only help you with the head, so here goes. The Kustom 200 head is 100 watts RMS @ 4 ohms and obviously a good bit less than that @ 8 ohms. The 200 was the 60s/70s rating, which was double the actual true RMS number. I have the 200 head and original 2-15 cab and run a Kustom 18 folded horn cab with them. Pretty amazing sound and volume for 100 watts. Good luck with your quest.
