Question Amp head question... will it burn?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,
I have a question. I just got a very good Fender Bassman 250 bass amp head. and I have at home a Fender sidekick 50 bass amp and I hate the sound of that thing more than anything, but it has a 15 inch speaker.

So I want to take the sidekick bass head out and put the fender bassman one in. Can it be done, will my speaker or my amp explode? Can the 15" speaker handle the 250 Wats? There's a 1/4 cable sticking out of the speaker so I could just plug it in with no problem.

I don't know nothing about ohms (I should, I know, I'm starting electronics but that is a whole other topic)

Thanks guys.

First, read the FAQ.

Then, go ahead and do the swap, it should be fine (if the new head will fit). But as to whether the speaker can handle the watts, just follow the #1 rule that everyone needs to follow: listen to the speaker, and if it sounds like it's fizzing, farting, or breaking up, turn down your volume.
