Amp Overload light turns on?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

Sometimes when practicing with the band at higher volumes (although I never go to max gain) the overload light comes on for a few seconds or so.
What does that mean? is it bad? Should I do something about it?

The amp is 65Watts with a 12" speaker.

Thank you

Bass players do it deeper.

It means you're pushing it a bit hard. With only 65 watts in a band setting I can see how that would happen - probably often. It could become a problem (with either the amp or speaker) if you're consistently pushing it too hard, so you may want to look at investing in something more powerful.

My pre-amp overload light turns me on. My amps clip/limit light does not.

What does your manual say about that light?

Thanks everyone for the reply.
I am sorry I do not have the manual as I got it used.
The amplifier is a Kustom 65Watts Bass amplifier.

Btw, the light is never constantly on, it keeps on going on and off every few seconds as I play.

Thanks again

You are clipping your preamp. If it is occasionally flashing you are fine. If it is a steady light then you might cause damage to your drivers (or not). If it sounds OK to you then rock on!

This is likely the manual for your amp. The light indicates preamp clipping, as stated above.

Yeah, I have never hear anything strange as I play. i.e. I do not notice any clipping or anything of such sort.
I will see if I can make any minor tweaks to fix this.

You have been a great help and thanks to everyone!
Also, thanks a lot for the manual!
