I was reading some other posts this morning when I thought, has any one really checked how much real power there head puts out? I will check my Orange TB500 and post results in a little bit.

Hi.

Yes, of course.

But without the distortion figure, the wattage can be quite misleading.

On the onset of clipping, its not uncommon that a tube amp is at 10% THD and a SS about 5%.

Sam

Actually, my band doesn't really care whether my amp puts out five watts or five million.

They care about how many decibels are produced by my cabinet. Their ears don't hear watts.
