Question Amp Questions..

Ok so currently I have an Ashdown MAG 300 115 combo, for the bands I play with it has enough volume and has a tone I really like. The downside is the weight as I don't drive and I have to rely on others to be able to move it around, so it's not exactly ideal.

I'm currently wondering whether it would be better to simply sell it and go for a newer lightweight amp and cab (GK look great for this).

I did see a thread where a TBer removed the amp from their MAG 300 combo, built a new case to cover the electronics and proceeded to use it like any other amp head. This got me thinking, well I like how the Ashdown sounds and it would work out cheaper. Maybe I could do something similar and buy a lightweight 112 cab to use with it?
It's a more ambitious idea but the upside is that I have relatives that could help me with woodwork as it's not something I do...ever

I should clarify that I'm hoping to have a setup that I can carry onto public transport while still having a decent volume and tone. I'm just throwing ideas around at the moment, what do you think?
