Amp Recommendations

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,
I just recently purchased a Bass guitar and im now looking for an amp that i can be heard next to a drummer and guitarist in a garage.

my budget is around 250-400.

does anyone have any recommendations for me.

the drummer is playing natural and the guitarist is using a 65 watt amp (but it is very loud think its a fender frontman 65r or something)

thanks for your help in advance

EDIT: would a peavey basic 112 60w amp get me over line? ive also been offered a good price on an Orange Crush PiX CR50wBXT i think it is

we play mostly Blink-182, Green Day as well as classic songs of all genres

60 watts into a 12" speaker would be a little weak in a band situation, especially for the types of influences you list. I would recomend a MINIMUM of 100 watts, even that is low for bass wattage in a loud band.

An Ampeg Ba115 would be decent, sound good and in your price range.

I agree - 60 watts will be more than a little weak. If your drummer is a little on the loud side, you will not be able to hear yourself. In fact, you may end up pushing a solid state 100 watt amp right to the limit. Keep searching the online stores for a decent used 200+ watt amp (Ampeg/Peavey/Fender, etc) and you should be able to come in near the top of your budget.

I'm not familiar with Fender stuff. I DO have two Peavey Basic 112's. Both the last version, commonly referred to as "Red-Faced." Alone, it's a 50 watt at 8 ohm. It has an external speaker jack, which when connected to another 8 ohm speaker cab, will give you 70+ watts at 4 ohms. The added speaker makes a substantial difference. When I run my BDDI with my BASS I get plenty loud with my "Normal" drummer and effects-intensive guitarist. This is in a 12X12 bandroom.

YMMV
