amp recommendations for a heavy metal sound w/ vm jazz

I've had a vm jazz for while and have pondered upgrading a guitar, but i love it so much. I play multiple kinds of rock, and enjoy distortion time to time. What's a good amp recommendation. I'm on a budget, but was thinking something around the $700 range if possible. It would be for jamming for now, but hoping to gig sooner or later. What's something amazing sounding, but easy to transport. I'm thinking some type of ampeg. Any suggestions.

SVT 7 PRO is a good choice. Anything out there that is light weight could work for you well. Lightweight gear definitely sounds really clean - if you want dirty tones, you have to decide on getting a tube instead or adding a distortion/overdrive pedal to the clean sounding head.
