Amp rig setup

Sign in to disble this ad
Im new to the world of rigs and i want to find out exactly what i need and how it works. Ive been researching on the internet and i still can't exactly work out what to do. Ive been thinking about not using a amp head and using a Tech21 SansAmp RBI, then running this through a BBE Sonic Maximizer into a 4x10 cab.

for one would this work?
do i need a power amp, if so what will this do?
and can i run it through anything bigger than a 4x10 cab, could i run it through two for instance?

any help will be most appreciated

Yes, you need a power amp of some sort to power a speaker cabinet. Check out the stickies at the top of the forum page for some useful info on ohms and wattage. You can either go buy a head or roll with the pre-amps you have plugged into a dedicated power amp. Up to you, just do your research.

I'm not gonna get super technical on this because it would just confuse you further. So do your reading.

Cheers.

Sure. Just make certain the speaker(s) you connect it to can handle what it's putting out.

Also, make sure your speaker impedances match up. I'd hate to see a blown output transformer when it can be prevented. Read your owner's manuals. If you don't have them, look them up online. If you have any doubts, just ask. Shoot me a pm if you like, but there are lots of folks here who are glad to help.

Well when you do figure out your power amp situation, I think you will be happy with your RBI and the BBE sonic maximizer. I use both into either an ampeg svt 2pro or an ampeg svt 4pro depending on the situation and I like the sound i get. Good luck!
