Question Amp/Rig suggestions?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey everyone,
I am in the market to purchase a new bass amp/rig and I am not sure on what to get. I have a pretty strict budget of about $500. I was playing through a Behringer ultrabass BXL1800A until it suddenly died on me a while back so I have resorted to borrowing amps from friends, but that only works for so long until it's time for a new one. In all honesty, this will be my first amp purchase because i was given the behringer as a gift, so I'm not exactly sure what I should be looking for or what I should avoid.

I play worship at church, so it needs to be powerful enough to play in a room of about 750-1000 people. I would also like there to be a DI out on it, but that is not required.

I have been looking around a little bit, and found a couple setups and was wondering if it'd be suited for what i am doing as well as if it is a good price or not.

I found:
700RB Gallien Krueger Bass Head and a Gallien Krueger 410Blx Backline Cab for $500.

as well as a:
Fender 200 watt head and 2-10 and 1-15 cabs for $350. It's on craigslist and it doesn't give more of a description than that.

Do either of those sound like they would work for what I'm doing? and are there any suggestions for a set-up/amp that would be in my price range?

Thanks

Agreed! I think that is a nice place to leap off from, it hopefully will do the trick and you won't have anything to worry about, however if it isn't quite IT, you can always build up from the foundation you have made with this $500 investment. Cheers.

Have you checked out sites like American Musical Supply or Sweetwater. They offer payment plans for gear. Not a great selection, but definitely some options. Good luck!

Get the GK and pair it with an Avatar cab. Solid all the way.
