Hey guys need some help. I have and amp stand I want to use so I can angle the amp up so I can hear it better. The problem is my amp head slides back on my speaker cabinet. Does anyone make a type of thing that would hook on the front of the cab and angle up in the back to hold the amp in place? If I can't find anything I guess it would be easy enough to make....

| | | | Can you put your head on the floor between the legs of the ampstand somehow?
It may not be as accessable as you want, but it may help. |

Does your head have its own case, or is it rack mounted? If it has its own case, you can replace the front legs, which are about 1/2" long, with legs that are 2" or 3" long, and hook them over the front edge of the cab top. Then if you are ever playing when the cabinet is flat, the amp will simply be tilted back a bit.
Or you could try velcro, depending on the angle.

1. Use the feet of your amp in combination with velcro on top of the cab and bottom of the amp.
2. Use two of these, made from wood or metal, whatever you're more familiar with.
3. A simple strap to keep amp and cab tight together.
Cheers!

Any mechanism based solely on friction is liable to fail with vibration. You need a positive lock. Hnz's suggestion #2 is good, but bulky. pasta4lnch's suggestion is like my extended leg idea, only better. If it was me, that's what I would go with.

And if you want to be on the safe side, put velcro on it and on your cab if it's not covered with carpet.
Pasta4lnch's suggestion is only better if you don't mind to put screws in your cab or (better) underneath in your ampcase.

From the diagram, I had in mind a single piece that would about cover the cab and serve as a platform for the amp. That would be bulky. Two strips would be convenient and not bulky. If it was me, though, I'd only feel comfortable using them with velcro, and only if the cab is carpeted. I know there wouldn't be much stress on the velcro if it was self-adhered to the top of a cabinet, but I've had bad luck with sticky velcro not staying stuck. Quote:

If they're mounted under the front edge of the amp, the could flip down over the front of the cab when it's tilted back, and then that amp isn't going anywhere. But yeah, you have to be willing to put a few extra screw-hole in your amp. Quote:

The hinged hooks though, if they're mounted under the front of an amp, have the advantage of being folded away and being virtually invisible when you aren't using them.
