Amp techs and older guys... identify this "preamp"

Anybody ever seen anything like this?

Conveniently, it has no model name or anything on it.

I remember seeing a case like that, for a cable TV block amplifier. Chances are it's a DIY job.

I've got some hacking planned on this. Just wondered if anybody knew what it was... If not, then i'll open it up and put it to some sort of use.

I posted this thread after it ended.... just seemed like a good idea not to post a live auction on something i was going to bid on on a public forum.

Just sayin'.

And to be honest, i couldn't really complain on what it was for $15.

I see four wires on it... two RCA connectors, and a black and a white... so i'm thinking the outputs, and the power supply... its probably just a couple transistors on the inside. My guess the "mellow" is a padded input of some sort.
