Amp wattage question

Sign in to disble this ad
What is the difference between Tube amps wattage and Solid State wattage.

I read BBers saying that there 200w Tube amp was LOUD and other BBers say that the needed to upgrade their 200w Solid state amp because it wasn't loud enough to gig with.

As Vinny Bobarino would say. "I'm so confuuuuused"

Do a search, there's a hundred threads on this subject, each more befuddled than the one before.
Just like a pound of feathers weighs the same as a pound of lead a watt is a watt. The difference between tubes and SS is that tubes naturally compress the signal, SS doesn't.

No way, lead weighs more than feathers.
