I recently acquired an older Ampeg 1x15 fliptop cabinet which a seller threw in with a '68 drip edge Bassman. It's got some wear, a few red paint drops, and two broken latches. I really have no use for the cab and would like to sell it. I can't find values for these cabs anywhere on the net or in completed listings on eBay. Can anyone offer any type of info/value on it? If it won't be much maybe I can just bolt down the top of the cab and make it a sealed enclosure and play through it? Thanks.

That doesn't look like one of the original speakers that it came with...which would be a CTS or Altec, and that would also lower the value. It's pretty beat, and while I'm sure it still sounds great, condition is important to current market price.

I'm not looking for a fortune for the cab, just a little cash to offset the cost of the mods I'm getting done to the Bassman. |

If the price is right, btw, I'll take it off your hands. Send me a PM if you'd like.

Just so it's clear to the mods, I wasn't meaning for this to be a for sale thread. |

I took more photos tonight and will post them tomorrow. Pulling the speaker would be a huge PITA so I won't do that. Can't find any stamps or markings on it, either. I tried my Jazz Bass through the set tonight and it sounds PISSED! Crazy tube growl. |

I had my Bassman modded by Mark Norwine here in NJ to have AB165 preamps and an AA865 inverter & power section. It sounds ridiculous with my guitars and equally awesome with my basses.
The amp really likes a 4 ohm speaker and I didn't have a cab for it yet so I picked up a Jensen Neo 15-150 speaker, tossed it in the Ampeg 1x15 cab, threw a 70's Fender logo on it, and it's a beautiful pairing. When I want to play bass I hook it up to either my GL Neo 212MBE cab or my Avatar Neo 4x10 and it THUMPS! I'm extremely happy! |
