Ampeg 3 Pro Problem I've been playing my Ampeg 3 Pro at low volume and noticed that the volume drops off for a couple of seconds, then returns to normal volume. When this happens, I look at the amp and the green EQ light is flickering (but the EQ is not engaged). This had only happened a couple of times in the last few days. Any thoughts. |
Could be a loose solder joint somewhere in the chain. One of my 3-Pros has had the green EQ light flicker, but I never noticed a drop in sound/volume. Turned out the LED itself just needed to be reset. |
Try easy fixes first...corroded effect loop cleaned with contact cleaner, corroded knob (ditto but use contact cleaner made for pots), tube. If those don't work, it might be a cold or broken solder and you'll need to take it into the shop unless you're an amp tech. |
The EQ is controlled by the footswitch, so it's possible that the f/s jack is a bit dirty too... Happened to mine in a similar way, only mine was the mute. It also prevented the mute switch on the front panel from fully muting the signal. |
Here is an update on my 3 Pro: Tested tubes ... replaced two 12 AX7s and the power switch was toast, so that was replaced as well....So far so good. |
Thanks for the update. I hope your troubles are behind you. :) |
