Ampeg 4 10 Tweeter help

Hello, I've got an ampeg 4 10 HLF cab, and I believe the tweeter is gone. But how can you test it? it's an 8 ohm rheostat on the back by the input jacks. It starts to hiss pretty bad when it's turned up. Any help would be appreciated.

If it's hissing, the tweeter works, it's reproducing noise created somewhere up the chain.

+1, if there's no hiss it's toasted. Or you have a very high quality amp, because tweeters don't create hiss, amps do.
