Ampeg 410HE Question
Can anyone tell me the timeline for when the 410HE cabs were USA-built vs. foreign built? And when the construction methods changed? And when the drivers changed?
I seem to remember hearing that some were made out of particle board, while others were made out of plywood, and that there was a speaker change sometime around 2000-2006 that resulted in darker tone.
I've got a line on a 410HE locally, and so far all that I know is that it's USA made. I'm trying to figure out whether it's going to be particle board or plywood, and how to determine the date to get a handle on what kind of drivers might be in it.
Honestly, go try. If it sounds good who cares ? My 810 is particle board and has the "dark speakers" It still sounds really good.
Have to agree with Adam, but here's the timeline:
Early 90's till 2000...OSB but great sounding speakers, US made.
2000-2005...OSB, dark speakers, US made.
Sometime in 2006...plywood, dark speakers but still sounds a little brighter than the 2000-2005 cabs...US made.
2007-present...plywood, brighter speakers, foreign made.
Thanks for the help guys. I'm just trying to get my homework done while I wait for the seller to answer his voicemail.
