I currently own a U.S. made 6x10 but it's starting to fall apart. When or if did the make it with plywood? and what would be an easy way to tell?

Cabs made from 98-06 were made with OSB, and all foreign 610HLF's are made with plywood. In all likelihood, yours is OSB. But to date it, go to The Unofficial Ampeg Page .

Mine is definitely OSB I find pieces of it in the van every weekend. I'm looking to buy a second one and I don't want another OSB cab. I heard they started using different speakers so do the newer plywood version sound different?

Yes, but I think they sound different for the better. A little more mid-response, more high end when the tweeter's turned off...honestly, some of the best cabs to ever come out under the Ampeg name are being made now. You can take that with a grain of salt since I'm an endorser, but if I didn't believe it, I wouldn't be an endorser.

thanks for the input. I'm going to try to find someone with a new one to try with my head/bass.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for a 6X10? I use V4b and a g&l SB2
