I'm trying to decide whether a svt3pro or 4 will sound better with a 410hlf. Any advice?

4. Though the 3 Pro does sound very good, I think the 4 Pro edges it out tonally.

I ran a 4 pro with a 410hlf for quite a few years. Great sounding rig with a 4 or 5 string basses.

It's subjective in the end, but the 3 PRO makes the 410hlf come alive. I owned two 410hlf's and hated both of them with other heads. The 3 PRO makes the 410hlf sound fantastic - low end is large sounding, midrange punch is ACTUALLY PRESENT, and the high end is clear and very much there. When you crank the tube gain on the 3 PRO, it sounds awesome through the 410hlf.

The 4 PRO is still a good head, I just do not like the main tone it puts out and constantly tried to dial out the massive low push at 150hz and lower.

Good bass tone starts with your hands.

You'd need to play them both to decide, but to me, I'd take the 3Pro. Used to be a big fan of the 6Pro a few years ago, which is essentially 2 3Pro's in one box. I'm not a fan of the 4Pro, based on size alone.

^ +1 on what RickenBoogie said, and I also ran a 6pro through the 410hlf for about two years, and worked nicely.

Never played a 4 pro, but didn't know they were that different from the 3.

I love my 3-PRO though.

I vote for the 3-Pro.

I've never played through a 4-Pro, but the 1200 watts @ 4 Ohms would seem to be a little overkill for that cabinet.

I've been playing the 3-Pro/SVT-410HLF combination for a few years now and really enjoy the tonal flexibility that the 3-Pro offers along with the tube gain. They seem to be a good match for each other!

The difference between the 3 and 4 Pro is slight to me, and everything is subjective. Either would be just fine with your rig, and all amps have a volume knob, so if you do happen to bridge your 4 Pro to give 1200w to a 600w cab, if you know how your volume knob works and have a little common sense, then you'll be OK. However, bridging a 4 Pro into a 410HLF makes absolutely no sense.

Honestly, I like the 7 Pro better than either of them

I've used the 4PRO in provided backline rigs many times, and always hated them. There's something about the voicing of that amp that really doesn't work for me no matter how much knob tweaking I do.

The 3PRO is a great sounding head. I haven't used them as many times as 4PRO's, but every time I have been able to get a solid tone.

The one time I used a 7PRO I remember thinking "This reminds of a 3PRO, but with more of the goods."

A 3 PRO and a 410HLF seem to be a made match. But either way you'd be running them at 4 ohms, and that's where both amps really sing. I also think a 3 PRO dials in easier...
