Ampeg 810 with Single 1/4 Input Question

Sign in to disble this ad
Probably going to pick one up for sale locally. It's a early 90's or so he says. Only has a single 1/4 input. How does one connect another cab if no other 1/4 inchers are available? Use a bridged amp?

When did Ampeg start adding dual 1/4's and Speakon? Thanks.

You can add another 1/4" in parallel to the one in there, make a parallel box to connect both cabs to, or use another cab with parallel input/outputs. I have a '98 810E with a single input and offered to wire it in stereo for someone who wanted to buy it once. It's not hard to do at all.

What head are you going to run it with? Most heads have two speaker outs. BUT don't overlook the final impedance of your rig. If that cab is 4 ohms, you'll need a head that can handle a 2 ohm load - should you decide to run two cabs in parallel.

late 90's. of course, that coincided with a tremendous drop in quality that wasn't rectified until 2005. how do you connect more than one? well provided you have an amp that will do two ohms, you use the second speaker out from your amp.

Your amp has two speaker outputs and is 2 ohm safe. Why would you need to plug two cabs together when you already have two outputs. One for the 810E and one for..?

I carry a parallel daisy chain box in my cable bag. It is easy to build but there are similar things commercially available.

Mine has three isolated 1/4" jacks and three speakon sockets all wired in parallel. You can mix and match in's and out's.

Good point. I'm guess I'm too used to seeing cabs with extra "Extension" 1/4 inch inputs such as on the 2X10 and 115 stack I use.
