Ampeg 810 Speaker Inner Cone (Dome) Pushed In

The center dome is pushed in on one of the speakers. Any way to get it back to round again? If not, is the tone affected? Thanks.

I'd leave it be. Shouldn't affect the tone at all.
That's pretty much just a cap to cover the voice coil.

Put the hose on the vacuum cleaner & carefully bring it up to the dome, keeping your curled finger between the dome & the hose-end.

Should pop out.

I'm sure that vacuum idea could work, but to me it just sounds like a great way to accidentally suck the dust cap right off your speaker cone...yikes...!!!

There should be no difference in tone (unless you've noticed some problem, which I guess you haven't since you're asking). This is the kind of thing that would deffinitely bug me aesthetically if it were visible, but the speakers in an Ampeg 810 are pretty much impossible to see through the grill cloth. I'd just put the grill back on and forget about it...

Success! The vacuum trick worked. Thanks.

I used the vacuum trick back when I worked at FEDERATED, kids just love pushing those things in.

I've done this a few times with great results. Just don't let the vac hose touch the dome and you are fine. Lower it down slowly. At some point the dome should pop back up if it hasn't been creased too badly.

Why do pawn shops and music stores insist on leaving speakers exposed so kids and d-bags can dent the dust caps??? I guess they see something that resembles a boob and have to molest it.

If you're unlucky, a dented cap can force the voice coil out of shape, which can cause it to rub against the magnet slot and eventually fail.
