Ampeg 810E noises..

Sign in to disble this ad
Lately my Ampeg 810E has been making static noises and noises similar to those that are made when you are receiving a cell phone call. I have tried multiple cords, basses, bass heads, and locations but still, the noise is present. It occurs when a bass is both plugged in and unplugged. Has anyone experienced these problems before and if so, how was it fixed? Your input is appreciated.

I used to get something like this with my svt-3 / svt-410hlf setup, but it only lasted 2 minutes tops.

Not in my case. This is a continuous noise. Perhaps I have a faulty speaker or connection in the cab. I already attempted to contact Ampeg's customer support and I am still waiting for a reply.

Lightbulb Umm!

Why do you suspect the cabinet?
It seems to me that if this static noise occurs without the bass plugged into the amp this sound is emanating from the amp, But you say you have tried different amps.
Have you tried another speaker when its doing this static noise.
It could be something arcing in your household system or even your next doors electrical system.

Speakers don't make noises. They will reproduce noises from the amp and instrument and whatever else lies within the signal chain. That's where you need to be looking for problems.

I'm tracking that speakers don't just make noise, what I'm getting at it are there any internal components in an Ampeg 810E that could cause this problem when an amp is being run through it? I have literally eliminated all other possibilities except for the cab. I thought it might be a electrical issue with my house but had the same problem at a completely different location. I'm drawing a blank.
