Which Ampeg Amp would be better?

Sign in to disble this ad
HI! This is my first time on here so please over look my Noobish-nesh

I have been wanting an Ampeg 8x10 since i started playing bass! But i just seen a concert the other day (Wednesday 13) And one of the opening bands was using an Ampeg PN-410HLF and his bass was nice and loud! It sounded great!

Now i know they hook up through PA speakers so i can literally start a band with my Acoustic b100 :P But i still want something that i can use without PA speakers and still be loud enough to like Band rehearse and not loud enough you know? Also it would save allot of space :P 8x10s kinda take up room

So what i am wonder which would you think i could like be better off with? I heard some people was replacing their 8x10s with PN-410HLF

The PN410 would do for almost ANY situation except stadiums. 810's are great & imo, can't be beat, but, really, for 95% of us, a good 410, 212 will be enough.
The PN410 is supposed to be a great cab & I'd think it'd do.
Everyone's different tho, so......
Add a PF500 or SVT 7 PRO & you got THE Ampeg sound @ little weight & $$

Umm!

An 8 X 10 is going to need about half the power in watts to get
the same volume as a 4 X 10 but there is nothing wrong with getting 2 4 X 10's to do exactly the same job if stacked.
Its a matter of opinion as to whether handling and transporting
2 4 X 10 cabs is easier than tipping back and rolling all eight on its built in wheels.
Its a vehicle dependent answer I think. Still with a bit of creativity, transporting an eight by ten:

is not an insurmountable task if you are young, fit and personable enough to have a friend help occasionally.

Give the Bergantino NV610 a look if you want ampeg 810 or better sound and volume in a smaller easier to transport package. Used they run around $600 to $800. Best cab on the market paired with an Ampeg SVT tube amp in my opinion.
