Ampeg B-15 - which input jack?

Sign in to disble this ad
What is your favorite input jack on an Ampeg B-15?

The model I have here seems to be a later 60's B-15N. It does not have the ultra-lo or hi switches.

It has 3 input jacks:

Channel 1 has a bass and a guitar input jack, and Channel 2 has just the one "instrument" input jack.

Thanks,
Brad

I think they're the same. I don't have favorites.

I can't tell any difference between the three on my '63 amp.

on my 64, it sounds like a normal and reduced input jack on channel 1, and a bright input on channel 2. i use the normal one, although i've occasionally used the normal jack and the bright jack on channel 2 for effects.

Sure... Any comment on the 4-input models is welcome as well.

Thanks,

The reason I'm sort of taking a poll here is because each of these inputs is a bit different with regards to impedance load on the bass and also the amount of series resistance on the way to the tube. I wouldn't expect huge tonal differences, but figured that some hardcore B15 users would have a favorite for some reason or another.

Thanks,
Brad
