Hi all,

Would an ampeg B15r be powerful enough for a gig?
We're a rock n' roll band, but we don't play THAT loud...just lough enough.

It really depends on the rest of the band, especially the drummer. My hard-rock band is pretty dang loud, and generally in 300 capacity clubs, no it isn't loud enough even as a stage monitor...talk about tube overdrive...it's screaming even with PA support! But if we're playing a small bar (no more than 100 capacity), then yes it will work fine but I always have to use the matching extension cabinet.

A couple other bands I played with alot, the guitarists use like 1x12 and 2x12 combo amps doing Tom Petty-ish type stuff, and it can easily keep up with that and no PA support. And it's more than overkill in a blues band setting.
But it's a freakin' awesome recording amp!

It wasn't for the rock gig I had intended it for. It also doesn't sound much like the original B-15 ... and it weighs a ton more. IMO, not really worth it overall.

it depends on the room... for practice in a small garage i use a combo amp I made from a bfm omni 2x10 cab and the pre amp and power supply and stuff from an ampeg ba115. its pushing 100 watts I think. and it keeps up with the drums and guitar. but at larger venues its lacking even when miced or ran through the pa system. I would look into getting something else.
