Ampeg B18N Handles: Up or Down?

After a fairly easy restoration, I'm ready to reattach the metal handles on my 1960s Ampeg B18N. When I got it a month ago the metal handles on each side were installed facing up, but in almost all of the photos I see of similar amps, the handles are installed facing down.

Is there a correct way that the carrying handles should be facing?

I will have to check my Ampeg book but I have mine facing up. Just found that way to be more comfortable when schlepping it around.

Ya, doesn't really matter. But the handles pointed down originally.

I have seen them done (apparently originally) both ways but the predominant orientation seems to be "down". If you are using original handles they can be done either way because the handle castings back then were solid. The new Kason handles use a casting that is more or less hollow on the underside so they really only look right when mounted "down".
