Sign in to disble this ad
hey there,
i was looking to buy a 70's B25-B but am not sure if it ll have enough power for what i want to use it for.
its a 55watts tube amp.
i was planning to use it for an indie rock project(think old kings of leon-kinda style).
what do you guys think?

With the matching 2x15? See, it all depends on the speakers you'll use.

Yes depend on the speakers mainly.
Or just how loud do you really have to be?

One hi efficiency 16 ohm cab, 2 16 ohm cabs or 1 high efficiency 8 ohm cab alone (plugged into the extension speaker jack, not the speaker jack) can get plenty loud.

A kid in a local indie group uses one through a GK 4x10 I believe, sounds great and they are loud.

I would agree that it's not loud enough, really great tone though.
I could use that beside a bass rig that did have headroom, blend the two together.

i think it's just as likely it would work as not, however, it could go either way, and you would have to have a pretty big cab, at least a 215 imho.

well remember that a b25b only operates at 16 and 8 ohms. might want to rewire your fridge for parallel/series to get the impedance to 16 ohms. otherwise i think it'll be enough for what you're doing.

Really?

I don't have the head, but i have the B-25b 2x15, and i thought it was switchable between 16ohms and 4ohms... odd that the head wouldn't match it...

For the OP... it IS pretty quiet when used as a bass head. I have a buddy that uses the head and matching cab for Guitar, though, and it sounds awesome!

you can't switch it between 16 and 8, so 16 and 4 is next best.
