Ampeg B2R vs SVT III Pro (actual loudness)

Sign in to disble this ad
I've currently got an Ampeg B2R, which is rated at 350 at 4ohms. I run it into an Avatar 2x12 and a GK 2x10. I've found this amp to not have nearly enough power for me, I've got it dimed all the time and it is bbaaarellly cutting it. I've got a change to grab an SVT III Pro which is rated at 450 watts. Will the extra 100 watts make a big enough difference to justify the upgrade?

I've run the 2BRE through (2) single 115 B Series Ampeg cabs (8 Ohms each) (200watts) with great results. Maybe its your different cabs, I don't know. For me I prefer to use matching cabs.

I have a B2R as well and run it through an Ampeg 610HLF so its running at 4 ohms. I have had zero issues with volume. I agree with the last post get a frig or matching cabs it will make a huge difference.

100 watts will NOT even be noticeable. You'd have to double the power to have a significant increase in volume. I think the 3Pro would sound *better*, but I agree, your issue is most likely due to the 2 different cabs.
