Ampeg B2RE / 4x10 / 'fart'

Alright, so I've been using the b2re and a matching ampeg 4x10 as a means to an end until I can afford an SVT classic and a better/bigger cab.

Until recently, I haven't had problems.

My band started tuning to D standard (BTW, I'm playing a MIM Fender Jazz).

Whenever I hit the D (formerly E) string, it just sounds like a fart. I've been able to adjust the EQ to slightly rid of this until Saturday when my band played a show, and it farted the entire show anytime I hit the D string.

So, experts, I'm not sure whether I should be looking at getting a new head, a new cab, a new bass, etc. At this point, I have about $500 to spend to remedy this issue within the next few weeks - Where would my money be best spent?
