Went to pick up my SX from the shop today and saw an ampeg b3 combo for $499....good deal or not?

That price is over twice what I would even consider for that amp. Then again I don't like Ampeg combos much, especially obscure overpriced ones.

I have a B3 and love it! I paid $500 new back the late 90s. It's a great practice amp with excellent tone. Very heavy, though, around 70 lbs.

what would you pay for it used on today's market with typical wear and tear? any nuances i should be aware of?

I paid 150 for mine in absolute mint condition. I sold it for 300. It was the one with the single 15, not the 15/8 (which is aparently garbage but I never played one so I couldn't say).

I had the B328; I like the preamp section of the B3 series, and you can plug another speaker into it for more sonic output.
