Ampeg BA 115 or Marshall MB 4210?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have been looking around the market for a bass amp, under my price range of £350, the two i've picked out are these. I've played a bigger version of the MB 4210, so i presume it would sound pretty much the same? but this BA 115 keep coming up on me. I'm looking to play punk rock, and abit of indie/acoustics, so i need an amp that could provide both of those sounds. I believe the BA 115 has a equalier, which the MB 4210 doesn't, which is one thing i would like to have. I was wondering if anyone has used the BA 115 and how good is it? there is one at an online shop for £250 (ex demo), so is it worth that, or paying an extra 80 for the marshall? I record music with the band at home, so this amp would be used for practise, recording and gigging.

Thanks

I had not one, not two, but THREE MB4210's crap out on me in ONE WEEK.

AVOID AVOID AVOID.

It never even got as far as a band practice.

I upgraded to the MB450H and MBC115, and the MBC115 lasted one practice on 1/3 volume before the cabinet blew the crossover. Marshall fixed it and its been okay since.

It's gig worthy if you don't need loud stage volume. It has an XLR out which makes it good for most clubs or even festival gigs with PA support. It hisses a lot, but the tweeter is safe to disconnect because it doesn't use a crossover. I've seen one that's part of the house back line at a local bar, and the style switch has crapped out, along with one of the input jacks. It's seen heavy use, but it should be noted that they aren't bulletproof. Be nice to it, and it should be nice to you.
