Lightbulb Ampeg BA115hp no sound output

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello, I have had this ampeg ba115hp for a pretty long time. Within the first few months I had it, I was playing with my bass on it, outputting to my headphones. While the amp was still on I pulled the cable out of the headphone jack, it made a pop noise. I then plugged it into the 0db input and no sound, no sound from the -15db input either. The amp will still turn on, and will still output sound from the headphone jack.

This amp is no longer under warranty since I have just had it sitting around waiting for my attention. If anyone has any clue as to what it may be please let me know. Thank you!~

Have you tried to connect the bass via cable as normal to the input? If not, I would try that and see if it works.

Many amps with headphone jacks cut the speaker feed while the jack is in use. This is often done by switch contacts on the jack. I think you'll find that the contacts are corroded and will need to be cleaned.

Well I have the back of this thing open, checking out everything on the circuit board, and the input jacks. Everything looks pretty much brand new, all shiny.

So, I went ahead and cleaned the contacts anyways. It didn't make any difference unfortunately. One thing I should add is that when plugged into either input jacks, the built in tuner still works perfect, but no sound comes with it.

check your speaker wires and make sure they're still hooked up. sounds like the amp still works to me, so it might be a disconnected speaker wire.
