I had the same problem with mine. It started out small, and over time it got worse. I only use it as a practice amp at home now, but even at low volume it was very fuzzy. I brought it to a tech, and he told me that the bias from the factory was way off. He also found about 6 or 7 cold solder joints. He said he has seen these conditions before from this particular amp. All fixed now (under Ampeg warranty) and it sounds even better than the day I bought it.

Is there a tweeter in the 115HP? BA115s are notorious for their hissy tweeters.

Just give them a glass of wine and a new pair of shoes.
That usually shuts 'em up for a while.....

Yes it does actually that's a very accurate description.. Currently I'm playing this through an extension chord, should I put it through a wall socket to see if it would make any difference and thanks for the help / reply , seriously appreciate it

Is this because of the lack of quality controll in the Chinese factories or could it be a voltage issue? I'm running my amp through an extension at the moment, would it make a difference if I run it through a wall socket ?

Doubtful. I think it's like Steve said, a bias issue or disengaged solder joint somewhere. Fairly easy fix, and if it's under warranty still, Ampeg picks up the tab.

Yea exactly like that, I'm glad I'm not the only one in the dark for this problem and I am the unlucky few who buy equipment at a very cheap price but lacking warrenty and whatnot
