AMPEG BA115HP Problem

Sign in to disble this ad
So I just got hold of a used BA115HP off Craigslist and am having a blast with it. The only problem I am really having is that the speaker craps itself when I put the Lows EQ on anything above 6 or 7. It just can't handle it and puts out static. Any suggestions on what I should do? Clean it, bring it in? Everything else on the amp is fine, tweater is set to fully counter clockwise, etc etc.

Thanks.

is it static or are you distorting the speaker?

Sorry, distorting the speaker would be the better term I'd say.

If you can get the eq to the tone you like at a lower volume but the speaker distorts at louder volumes it CAN be a bad speaker or just the speaker being overpowered.....are you trying to play over a drummer or playing at a really loud volume?

It can't handle lows even at low volume. Just sitting in my room on Master "2" with lows above 7 will make it distort.

depends.....I am no expert and it is hard to tell what a problem is without troubleshooting but combo amps with 1 speaker dont really get loud enough to play with a band, so you may need more speakers for the volume you want BUT you should have it checked anyway.
