Ampeg BA115HPT fuzzy/buzzing problem when notes are played... please help!

Hello, I need your expert help with my BA115HPT combo amp.

It has this seriously annoying fuzzy/buzzing noise only whenever I play notes, it sounds like a really gated fuzz mixed really quietly over my actual bass sound. This has been happening for a while. The tweeter has been disconnected and the speaker replaced all to no joy!

Now when I turn the Level Control slider/knob/thing on the back the noise gets louder and more prominent the higher I go. This level control slider/knob/thing is an attenuator for the Tweeter as far as I know and that's why this kinda puzzles me.lol Would disconnecting the slider/knob/thing altogether work? Or should I give reconnecting the tweeter a try?

Any help or suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!!

Conor

Have you totally eliminated your bass as a possible source for the noise?

+1, also WHO replaced the speaker, and with WHAT speaker? Might be a bad fit. Could also be a number of things, you need to do the process of elimination game, one component at a time.
